Pose! One, Two, Smile! Good news to all professional and amateur photographers in the following Southeast Asian countries namely: Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. Get yourself busy taking those classic and impressive shots. The Foreign Correspondents Club of Thailand (FCCT) organizes its 2nd annual FCCT Photojournalism Awards wherein participating photographers need to submit their most impressive photo to the committee for screening and review. You don’t really need to be a member of the FCCT in order to join the contest and that the photos must only be taken within Southeast Asia. Photo submissions can fall under any one of the categories below.
* spot news — for the best photos taken at the news events in Asia.
* feature photography — for the best non-news “feature” photos taken in Asia.
* photo essay — for the best collection of up to 12 photos taken on a single topic in Asia.
* “environmental” photography — for the best photos focusing on the environment, climate change, or natural resources in Asia.
The judges will then select one Photo of the Year from
all submissions in order to recognise the single-most impressive photo of the year and the winner will receive this year’s top prize. To be counted in, submit your photos to the FCCT by Oct. 1 ‘08. The winners will be announced later this year. Call +662 652 0580~1 for information on how to submit your entries. (Note to FCCT: This photo is my official entry under the environmental photography category entitled “Up, Close And Personal with the Komodo Dragon”. Taken at the hallway of the AIT Center, Asian Institute of Technology, Pathumtani, Thailand).
