Cochlear implants are intended for people who are very deaf that even the most powerful hearing aids can’t help. This piece of device collects the sound and digitizes it then transmits it by radio to a receiver embedded in the skull of a very deaf person. Pulses are then sent to the electrodes that are attached to the auditory nerves. While it is a straightforward device, a hearing aid serves as a microphone collecting sounds and its electronics will amplify the sound making those tiny loudspeakers send the sound into a tube that’s placed in the ear canal. Hearing aid is actually powered by a disposable battery.
