Who had not seen the movie “Forrest Gump“? I’ve seen it like 3 or more times and I cried each time I came to the scene where Forrest Gump (Tom Hanks) soulfully talked to his sweetheart about love and life. It’s just a very touching scene (or am I just too emotional?). Quoting here some favorite lines that were said in the movie –
Forrest Gump: Will you marry me?
[Jenny turns and looks at him]
Forrest Gump: I’d make a good husband, Jenny.
Jenny Curran: You would, Forrest.
Forrest Gump: …But you won’t marry me.
Jenny Curran: [sadly] … You don’t wanna marry me.
Forrest Gump: Why don’t you love me, Jenny?
[Jenny says nothing]
Forrest Gump: I’m not a smart man… but I know what love is.
This line “I’m not a smart man…but I know what love is.” really cuts my heart deep. Oh, I can’t believe how I was really into it while I watched the movie over and over again. Sadly, don’t you pity or at least become a little sympathetic at such an innocent guy proposing marriage to someone he dearly loved knowing that she can’t really be his wife?
Loving someone is just like what Forrest Gump said, “My momma always said, that ‘Life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get.’” You just have to give all what you can.
