Should you want to create your own wireless ad hoc connection between your computer and iPhone, you may please check below steps. This procedure was self-made after a successful exploration by an iPhone user.

First, you may create a wireless ad hoc connection by right-clicking Wireless network connection under the control panel on your computer and set the static ip address to 10.3.3.1 with its Subnet address to 255.255.255.0. You may name it any name you want. You may also refer to Ultimatediversity.com for the complete wireless ad hoc connection configuration.

Second, you need to activate the ad hoc wireless connection and activate the WI-FI connection in your iPhone with the static IP address set to 10.3.3.2 and Subnet address set to 255.255.255.0 with the same name as the computer wireless ad hoc connection. Then, you run WinSCP program. (Source: http://winscp.net/eng/download.php).

Finally, you will then need to configure the login connection with user name set to root, ip address set to 10.3.3.2 and password set to alpine. When completed, it is now possible for you to transfer files from your computer to your iPhone (vice versa). A friend using iPhone discovered that this procedure works. We can try it, too.
