My young sister is currently working as a company nurse and it is her prime duty to teach the employees on preventive measures to avoid work hazards and any other work-related accidents. Like for example, a construction worker should be taught and reminded to always wear a hard hat to avoid injuries from falling debris. A motorcycle driver should be instructed to always wear helmet to avoid head injuries in case of a motor accident. A car or service driver should always fasten the seatbelt for safety purposes. Nurses, doctors, medical technologists, and any other medical personnel and practitioners should also strictly follow the principles of sterility and cleanliness like wearing gloves, masks, or gowns as a Standard Operating Procedure to avoid cross contamination and infection from diseases. People who are also exposed to chemicals or radiation should always wear protective shields and masks to minimize direct contact to the substance or radiation. These are just a few of the many important measures that workers should not only take into serious consideration but also practice or apply in themselves in order to avoid accidents at work. Although there are numerous accident claims placed and granted each year, it always pays to really be mindful of your movements and be extra careful at work. No matter how big your accident claim is, it’s always better to be safe than sorry.
